What's this site about?

For a year now I've been running a weekly event in Prague called Tuesday Toast. The idea of the event is that I pick a bar and then take as many people as want to join me along for a few beers and a chat on a Tuesday evening. After a slow start, there is now a fairly steady crowd of around 20 people each week, so clearly there was a gap in the weekly calender for such an event.

Anyway, after a year of walking around looking for interesting bars, I recently decided to start searching online for tips. Which is when I noticed something rather strange.

There are countless blogs and pages about Prague bars lurking around the interweb, which at first glance can only be a good thing. But on closer inspection I spotted a bit of a problem. Pretty much every single page/blog is recommending the same few bars.

It appears that rather than actually go out and explore Prague, these people are just looking at other blogs and copying the recommendations they see there. Either that or there are a select few bars paying a lot of money to advertise themselves online in every blog possible.

Either way, it doesn't do much to help people visiting Prague for the first time find interesting, local bars to go to.

So I decided to write my own blog about Prague bars, and here are a few things you can/can't expect from this blog;

WHAT TO EXPECT:

I have personally been to every single bar that I will ever post about on this site

I fully intend to go back to each and every one of these bars as often as my schedule/wallet allows me to

All of my friends who have been to these bars also recommend them

Each of these bars is reasonably priced for both food and drink.

All of the bars are close to metro/tram stops so easy to get to from anywhere in Prague

Many of these bars will have a good selection of beers. Some of them will be brew-pubs

All of these bars are places where local Czech people eat and drink

WHAT NOT TO EXPECT

This is not a copy-paste blog about bars

There are no tourist trap expensive bars featured on this blog

You are not likely to run into drunken stag parties from the UK in any of these bars

This is not a list of sports bars, English/Irish bars, or any other kind of specific bars

You will not find ANY of the bars here that are on all the other blogs

This is a list of bars I like. Nothing more, nothing less. So without further ado, let's get on with recommending a few bars to you guys....
